Curriculum Overview
Brewton-Parker College

The 48-credit hour Master of Arts in Biblical and Theological Studies is a research focused program that adheres to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 with the purpose of augmenting biblical preaching and teaching in the church or general ministry, teaching in a Christian school, or preparing the student for pursuit of advanced degrees. The student will work in concert with an adviser to focus the curriculum toward a specific end goal.

Program Learning Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Old Testament and New Testament books and content, the historical framework of the biblical period, important theological emphases, as well as an understanding of scholarly critical issues from a conservative biblical perspective.
  • Develop an exegetical and hermeneutical framework for interpretation and application of scriptures.
  • Complete a graduate-level thesis focused upon a contribution to a selected area of biblical and theological studies.

Graduation Requirements:

  • Complete all education requirements as required by the Brewton-Parker catalog.
  • Completion of program with a cumulative 2.5 GPA.
  • Completion of each required core course with a minimum grade of C range or higher.
  • Minimum of 33% of the program must be completed at BPC.
  • Program time limit is four years.

  • Five Ministry Electives if transferred from MAM
